· Explore the Pyramids
o Standard: 8.4. 3. B. Identify historic sites and material artifacts important to world history. Learn everything you need to know about pyramids. Go on a virtual tour of the pyramids. Learn hieroglyphics and design your own. Challenge students to build/design their own pyramid.
· History and Facts About the Liberty Bell
o Includes history, trivia, pictures, and facts about the Liberty Bell. A liberty bell timeline is included. From 1701 when William Penn issued the Charter of Privileges to 2003 when the Liberty Bell Center was opened. Tradition tells of a chime that changed the world on July 8, 1776, with the Liberty Bell ringing out from the tower of Independence Hall summoning the citizens of Philadelphia to hear the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence by Colonel John Nixon.
· The Thirteen Colonies (Social Studies for Kids)
o Contains information about the 13 colonies; Part 1: contains information about settlers coming to America. Part 2: contains characteristics of the colonies. The colonies are broken down into 3 areas New England Colonies, Middle Colonies and Southern Colonies. Part 3 contains information on beliefs and revelations.

· United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
o The Holocaust was the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of approximately six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators. During the era of the Holocaust, German authorities also targeted other groups because of “racial inferiority.” The museum is a living memorial to the Holocaust.

· The American Presidents
o Pictures of each of the Presidents links to information about their lives, their presidency, and their accomplishments.
· The Underground Railroad (National Geographic)
o Students assume the role of slaves trying to escape along the Underground Railroad. The site takes them on an interactive journey north to Canada and freedom, learning of the process, the dangers, and the individuals that made the Underground Railroad work.

o Found on Chicago's Field Museum of Natural History web site Includes information on growing, history, eating, making chocolate. A Chocolate Challenge quiz tests your knowledge about chocolate. A "Just for Kids" page and an "Educator's Resources" page provide great information and some very useful links

o The Library of Congress is a gateway to literally billions of resources related to American history, government, and culture. Two noteworthy
sections of this section are:

o Teachers
§ Features lesson plans, activities, digital photographs and documents that document American history and culture, features on today in history, a performing arts encyclopedia, a local arts, crafts, and customs site that highlights local culture, and a song and poetry documents digital collection.
o Kids and Families
§ Many resources useful to teachers can be found here including American history for elementary and middle school students, gateways to information on the nations of the world, maps and facts about places in the news, and numerous others. [rabfa1]
· Van Wagner – Pennsylvania History
o Contains links to Van Wagner’s songs, videos, and writings. This artist and author offers unique insight into Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania history and culture. Two examples of his music and videos are:
